Rain

I took this picture a couple of days ago at dawn. I kept thinking that the sky was not our usual Central New York wintery dawn with temperatures in the minus 5 degree range. Instead it reminded me of a spring or summer morning.

I must say that all of this rain and warm weather has been absolutely weird. When I leave the barn at night -- as I take out the horse poop -- there is a smell of spring in the air. You have to live on a farm to understand that olfactory reference. It is a subtle combination of fungus, rot and above all the potential of life.

So each spring as the sap flows we are reminded by nature to be aware of the ancient wisdoms in places like the Bhagavad Gita especially chapter 2 verse 45 – as we strive toward deeper levels of sapience.
