Biodiesel

The Grey Lady ran a very interesting article yesterday about how ConEd meets peak electricity demands. Two upstate schools are in the process of working out ways to efficiently produce biodiesel in a way that will cut down on pollution.

The key issue for the City is why in heaven's name should they demand that a transmission line be built when they could create efficient and semi-carbon neutral electrical generation plants to meet their ongoing energy needs. A scheme like this would make everyone a winner -- upstate would not be destroyed to install an aging technology -- we'll be left with a ton of rusting and ugly metal -- since it will not prove to be efficient enough --- DOWNSTATE would get its power in efficient and non-polluting ways.

But, I guess the above won't let the hogs feed at the communal trough enough.
